Tom is a renowned global leader in financial technology. He has been selected by Institutional Investor magazine as the top financial technology professional in the world for an unprecedented three consecutive years (2012, 2013 and 2014). The magazine hailed Tom as Bloomberg’s “technology visionary” and credited him with helping to turn Bloomberg into an “innovation factory.”
Prior to 2015, Tom served as the Global Head of Bloomberg’s Financial Products and Services Division. Tom managed all aspects of the Bloomberg Professional service, and also led the company’s entry into the enterprise market. Bloomberg’s Enterprise Solutions business leverages the company’s technology infrastructure to enable businesses to acquire, manage and distribute data and information more efficiently across the enterprise. Bloomberg’s Trading Solutions business addresses workflow needs with solutions for portfolio, inventory, sales and trading, and middle and back office operations for the buy-side and sell-side.
Prior to helping found Bloomberg, Tom was a fixed-income trader at Morgan Stanley and was in systems research at Salomon Brothers, working alongside Michael R. Bloomberg.
Tom is a globally recognized philanthropist who is widely respected as an environmentalist and conservation advocate. He serves as Chairman of the Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy and as Trustee Emeritus of the National Parks Conservation Association. Tom also serves on the boards of the Manhattan Theatre Club, where he serves as President of the Board and Chair of the Executive Committee, and the Intrepid Museum Foundation. Tom is a member of the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute Advisory Council.
Tom holds a B.S. and M.S. in mathematics from SUNY Binghamton.
